The Frog Lives! Vintage TV Ads From 80's Show Just How Quirky Apple's Early Product Pitches Were Jul 28th 2013, 03:23

EveryAppleAds, the YouTube channel that claims to be the largest online archive of Apple TV ads, has added about a dozen vintage ads from the 1980s in recent days that showcase the clever, funny and quirky approach the company took to pitching its computers in the early years of the home PC revolution.

The ads feature both the Apple II, Apple's first successful consumer PC, and the Macintosh, which was introduced in 1984 with a now legendary Apple commercial that's, of course, among the 500 ads posted on the channel.

Among the vintage ads is a 1986 Mac commercial, called "Remarkable Things," (above) that show how "reports that could bore the dead sparkle with graphic clarity." Another fun ad: An Apple II commercial from 1987 called "Frog" (below) that features a young student named Jenifer Graham explaining how her computer can be used to virtually dissect a frog. "I didn't want to hurt a living thing. I said I would be happy to do it on an Apple computer. That way, I can learn — and the frog lives."
